Je cherchais depuis quelques mois une façon d’utiliser ce grillage de ventilateur troué pour représenter la naissance dans toute sa beauté et sa violence. Un dessin numérique imprimé sur papier Arches et monté sur panneau de mousse rigide est devenu la base et le catalyseur de cette sculpture murale de 96 cm sur 73 cm.

La forme bombée du ventilateur, la tubulure noire et le bol noir luisant sous l’ouverture représente le sexe féminin, le tapis a vaisselle rouge l’utérus et le placenta, les coulures du dessin et le lacet rouges représentent le sang, et la louche metallique représente le nouveau né.

I had been thinking for a few months of a way to use this fan grill to represent birth in all its beauty and violence. A digital drawing printed on Arches paper and mounted on rigid foam became the base and the catalyst for this wall sculpture measuring 96 cm x 73 cm.

The rounded shape of the fan, the black mesh tubing and the shining hole created by the black bowl beneath the opening evoke the female sex, the dishwashing mat represents the uterus and placenta, the red streaks and shoe lace represent blood and the small metal ladle the newborn.
